Protox Announces Changes to Board of Directors
Monday, June 19, 2006 - Vancouver, British Columbia - Protox Therapeutics Inc. (TSX-V: PRX) announced that at its annual general meeting held today in Vancouver, shareholders elected the following members to its board of directors: Frank Holler (Chairman), Dr. Avtar Dhillon, Jim Heppel, Nitin Kaushal, Dr. Fahar Merchant, Dr. James Miller and Dr. Donald Rix.
Dr. Tom Buckley and Tazdin Esmail stepped down as directors of the Company at the meeting; however, Dr. Buckley, a co-founder of the company, will continue in his position as Chief Scientific Officer. Mr. Esmail served as Protox's first CEO in 2004 but resigned from his role as CEO in 2005 due to health reasons.
Protox Chairman, Frank Holler, thanked Dr. Buckley and Mr. Esmail for their contributions. “As the company's first CEO, Mr. Esmail played an important role in the initial development of Protox while Dr. Buckley has made a substantial contribution both as a board member and as the Company's Chief Scientific Officer,” said Mr. Holler. “We are very appreciative of the guidance and insights provided by both gentlemen in the Company's formative years.”
